“Krazy” Not to Carry

Last year I decided to remove the small tube of Krazy Glue from my repair kit in order to save 5 grams (.2 oz). I later regretted that move.

After a few days on the trail, the sole of my trail runner started delaminating. I continued to walk but the 1″ flap was a walking hazard and I had no glue, so I cut it off, leaving a section of the mid sole exposed.

At the end of the week-long trip, I grabbed the Krazy Glue from my “go box,” opened it and added a few drops in between another developing flap on the other shoe.

Within seconds, the sole was fastened tight and has yet to fail again.

Now, there is no doubt there is a problem with the Asics Gel-Scram trail running shoes and I have since replaced them with a different pair, but I learned a lesson.

Since then, I’ve use the glue to reattach the Velcro strip on the heal of my runners for the Dirty Girl gaiters. I can think of a number of other possible reasons including rips, tears and breaks.
