Overnight to Henninger — Jan 3-4, 2014

Last weekend the four of us (including “Lab Rat” the dog) took off Friday evening for a quick overnight to Henninger Flats above Pasadena.

The air was pretty moist so we pitched the tarp

James made himself a “couch” to read on while we enjoyed the fire with our dog, “Lab Rat.”

The night was clear, our packs were light despite the two cans of chili for our chili dog dinner at the top! The hike up is easy and quick. Once we arrived, James and I gather wood and made a nice fire to heat the chili and cooks the dogs.

The last time I was up, a resident black bear visited our camp making a lot of noise digging through trash others left behind. This time, there was no trash and therefor, bear.

We woke to hazy sunshine, made breakfast and then packed up the gear. We took a quick hike to an unmarked trial to a series of short tunnels and water sources. The walk down went fast and were back at the house by noon the next day.
