Teaching Boys To Fish

Evan, a Scout, volunteered to be the Grub Master. He did extremely well and should be proud.

One of the more tedious jobs of preparing for a group backpack trip of 16  is meal planning and preparation. It takes a lot of thought, planning and staging to prepare for even a weekend.

Due to time, Amber and I usually do all the work. This time, I asked for a volunteer and one of our scouts raised his hand.

We did all the buying of the food and material, then taught Evan how to distribute out and repackage all the food for each scout. The task took over two hours but the end result is far worth the hassle. Each scout receives one large freezer bag with all their food for the weekend. Each individual bag is labeled with their name so there is no confusion.

Stay tuned, we are going to run through all the logistics of preparing backpack meals….
